Turning On/Off User Access Control (UAC) in Windows 7

If you're running Windows 7, you must first turn off the User Access Control (UAC) setting in order to install UniPrint. Once UniPrint is successfully installed, you can then turn User Access Control (UAC) back on. Changing the User Access Control (UAC) setting will require you to restart your computer. Please make sure all other applications are closed before proceeding.

1.

Click the Start Button > then choose Control Panel.

2. Your Control Panel may have 2 different looks depending upon what the View by: setting is in the upper right corner.  The two views are Icon View and Category View.

Listed below are both views.  Please go to the screen shot that is similar to your configuration.

Icon View:

Click User Accounts.  You may proceed to step 3.

Category View:

Click User Accounts.

Click User Accounts.

3. Click User Accounts.

4. Click "Change User Account Control Settings"

5.

Under the Up/Down Slider labeled "Always Notify"
Do one of the following:

  • Move the slider down to "Never notify"
    (Before you install UniPrint)
    OR
  • Move the slider up to third from the bottom setting.  This is the default setting that ships with Windows 7.  The right side of the screen will say 'Default - Notify me only when programs try to make changes to my computer"
(After you have finished installing UniPrint)
  • If you started with a different security setting please consult with your computer Guru before making any permanent changes.

6. Click "Yes" to accept the User Account Control window settings that pops up on the screen.

7. You may now proceed with the software installation.

NOTE: If you are
installing UniPrint, you will want to return to the previous page Set Up For Printing after your computer restarts to complete the setup.
